Merino is a breed of sheep highly prized for its soft and finely crimped wool. Because of its thin diameter, merino isn’t itchy or rough like other wools but still offers impressive warmth and moisture wicking capabilities. Moisture wicking bedding pulls moisture away from your skin by absorbing it into the fibers. The moisture then moves through the fabric and evaporates through the exterior. So as you perspire (which your body will do even when you sleep) , your merino wool blanket takes it in and wicks it away. The yarns of this wool trap still air, giving it insulating characteristics to regulate your body temperature. It helps keep your body heat in when it’s cool outside and helps keep the heat out when the temperatures rise. Exclusive quilting patterns eliminate the wool batting from shifting.
Hand filled with our exclusive WOOLMARK certified organic superfine extra clean merino wool fiber, our comforters are tested for harmful chemicals and are less susceptible to dust mites, mold, mildew, and moisture if right conditions exist. Wool is also inherently fire resistant, providing a safe sleep environment without the need for chemical fire retardant additives.
None of our wool is ever carbonized or bleached, and sheep dipping is never practiced. We use a medium-fine wool blend, the best loft for bedding--soft, supple, and never itchy. The mill produces exceptionally clean wool, scouring it multiple times with hot water and a mild, biodegradable soap. When washing the certified-organic wool, a natural wool keratin soap is used. The wool is carded multiple times, loosening and releasing any debris, dirt, or vegetable matter without stripping the fibers or completely removing the lanolin. Carding also shifts the wool fibers so they all run in the same direction. The end result is a beautifully smooth, natural wool batting with bounce and natural resilience.

Our superfine Merinos graze in mountainous lands of Tian Shan and Pamir Alai mountains of Kyrgyzstan, also called “Asian Switzerland”. Wool is a miracle fabric and has several sustainable attributes: it is rapidly renewable, biodegradable, and recyclable. Annual shearing benefits both the sheep as well as us humans. Shearing in the spring allows the sheep to begin growing their wool in time to have a full coat by winter. Spring shearing prepares the sheep to have at least 1 inch of wool on their coats in the summer.
Our vendor uses the finest organic cotton sateen fabric. This sateen is naturally lustrous and soft, and it's all certified organic. No harmful chemicals are involved at any stage of the process – planting, growing, harvesting, and processing are all handled in accordance with organic protocols. Utilizing farming methods that encourage healthy ecosystems, including eliminating the toxic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers common in conventional cotton farming, means a safer environment for farm workers, more productive and sustainable soil, reduced irrigation needs, and a healthier end product for you.
Wool has a mild natural scent which comes from lanolin, a natural oil that protects the sheep's wool and skin from the elements and the environment. Approximately 1% of the lanolin is intentionally left in the wool after the scouring and cleaning process. This ensures conditioning effects and increases the longevity and vitality of our wool. The sweet smell of merino wool assures you are receiving the true organic merino wool product, tested for harmful chemicals, toxins and synthetics. Wool aroma is appealing to the senses and helps induce a relaxed, healthy and comforting sleep environment. We find the majority of our customers either don't notice a scent or find the natural scent to be mild, pleasant, and benign. This scent should dissipate within a few days.
1st choice: Use washable organic duvet cover for extra protection. Use a percale or
sateen duvet cover for warm weathers, and a flannel duvet cover for cold winters.
2nd choice: Regular sunning
and airing. The sun will naturally revitalize and disinfect wool bedding.
3rd choice: Do
not machine wash or dry. Spot clean with soft brush and mild detergent. Treat stains by
soaking area with hydrogen peroxide (note, this may cause lightening of fabric). Allow the
product to air dry completely. Do not wring or machine dry.
4th choice: eco friendly dry
cleaning on short cycle and limited moisture.
